Video: Show us some amazing costumes from a TV show, film, music video or performance.
The Lion King musical is one of the most visually pleasing shows I've ever seen. Just like the original Disney movie, it made me cry, which is no mean feat. The costumes are stunning and inventive, and I'd need several posts just to feature them all. I hope you get to see it.
Another wonderful costume show is the tv series Firefly. It perfectly blends the Old West with the Orient without seeming hokey. And they're so well crafted, you can see the history behind them...or in front of them, as the show takes place in the future...
Please, please check out these shows. Listen to the music, and let the visuals take you away.
Audio: Share a great instrumental song or album.
Technically, there are some vocals on this album, but they are well done. The majority of the music is the sort of sweeping, swelling music you'd associate with a river as it grows from a tiny stream high in the mountains to a mighty torrent as it reaches the sea.
Soft arpeggios, brilliant crescendos, tripping, dancing water. Some songs are bouncy like a warm spring rain; others are moody like the southern delta of the Mississippi. Check it out. You'll like it. Also, you might have heard some of it without realizing it: one of the songs from AR (The Great Divide) is used in the Valspar paint commercials that have been running lately.
And if you like orchestral choral music, try Jonathan Elias's other work, The Prayer Cycle. Music from this album was used in the Kingdom of Heaven trailers, specifically Movement III: Hope.
